Klosters lies on the eastern edge of Switzerland in the Graubünden canton, 410 km from Geneva and best reached as a four-and-a-half-hour drive across the country. Our private Mercedes service starts at CHF 1,450 in E-Class, an all-inclusive fixed price that includes flight tracking, child seats, and the longer drive time. For Geneva-based business travellers heading to Klosters for a long weekend, or for international guests connecting through GVA toward the British royal family’s favourite Alpine resort, our chauffeurs cover the route in S-Class comfort and Sprinter group capacity.

Why a chauffeur usually wins this particular route

Klosters is genuinely far from Geneva — across the entire Swiss plateau, then up the Prättigau valley — and the train alternative is real: Genève → Zürich HB → Landquart → Klosters, with a change at Landquart onto the Rhaetian Railway. Total rail time runs about 4h45 with two transfers and a final 35-minute mountain railway. For a couple with light luggage it is reasonable. For four or six travelling with ski equipment, ski-boot bags and overcoats — typical of the Klosters clientele — the train transitions become tiresome and the rate gap between a V-Class private (CHF 1,650 fixed) and four first-class returns plus a Landquart taxi narrows quickly. The motorway via Zurich runs cleanly outside Friday rush hour; the only slow segment is the final 23 km of cantonal road from Landquart up the Prättigau, which our drivers handle in winter equipment.

The route in detail

Geneva → Klosters splits into three clear segments. First the A1 motorway across the Swiss plateau: Geneva, Lausanne, Bern, Olten, Zurich. Around 320 km of straight running at the 120 km/h speed limit — three and a quarter hours including a comfort stop at the Würenlos service area. Second segment: Zurich Nordring → A3 along the south shore of Lake Zurich → Walensee → A13 → Landquart. This is one of the most scenic motorway runs in Europe, with the Walensee cliffs to the south and Liechtenstein opposite, 70 km in about 50 minutes. Final segment: Landquart up to Klosters Dorf and Klosters Platz on cantonal road 28, the famous Prättigau route — 23 km, climbing through Küblis, Saas and Serneus, then arriving at Klosters Dorf (1,140 m) and Klosters Platz (1,200 m). Total run: 4h30 in normal conditions, slightly more in snow over the upper Prättigau.

Hotels we know in Klosters

Klosters keeps a discreet, chalet-style hotel scene that suits private chauffeur arrivals; the police presence around royal visits is reassuring and concierges are used to coordinated drop-offs. Hotel Vereina on Landstrasse is the grande dame, with its own underground driveway — we radio ahead so the bell desk receives you under cover. Walserhof in Klosters Platz, the historic five-star with the Michelin-starred restaurant of the same name, has a small forecourt where the E-Class and S-Class fit; the V-Class drops on Landstrasse and the porter walks 40 metres. Alpina Klosters on Bahnhofstrasse welcomes our drivers at the rear loading bay near the spa entrance. Hotel Silvretta at Klosters Platz offers a covered porch and ski-locker access from the chauffeur arrival bay — convenient for families with children.

What to do in Klosters

Klosters and Davos share one of the largest interconnected ski areas in Switzerland (300 km of pistes across the Madrisa, Gotschna, Parsenn, Jakobshorn and Rinerhorn sectors), but Klosters delivers a quieter, lower-altitude atmosphere than its larger neighbour. Skiing: the Gotschnagrat cable car climbs directly from Klosters Platz to 2,300 m, opening the Parsenn run — a 12 km descent to Wolfgang. The Madrisa lift from Klosters Dorf reaches family-friendly pistes facing south. Cross-country: 47 km of marked loipe between Klosters and Davos, classic and skating. Tobogganing: the 8 km Madrisa-Saas run is one of Switzerland’s longest, lit on Friday evenings. Ice hockey: the HC Davos play at the Eisstadion in Davos (15 minutes by car) — our chauffeurs handle match-night transfers. Royal history: the Hotel Wynegg pub on Landstrasse is the historical haunt; the Prince of Wales has been a Klosters regular since the 1980s. Hiking: from June to October, the Madrisa, Pischa and Sertig trails open. Summer cycling: the Albula and Flüela passes (open mid-June to October) draw road cyclists and our service handles support-vehicle transfers. Spa: the Kessler Spa at the Vereina is open to non-residents on reservation.

Klosters Dorf or Klosters Platz: which station do we serve?

The resort splits into two railway villages, both reachable from the same cantonal road 28. Klosters Platz (1,200 m) is the larger and more commercial of the two, hosting the Vereina, Walserhof, Silvretta and most restaurants — and the Gotschnagrat cable car. Klosters Dorf (1,140 m), 2 km below on the same valley road, is quieter and more traditional, home to the Madrisa lift and the Alpina among others. Travel time between the two villages by car is 4 minutes. We confirm exact drop-off at booking; in winter snowfall, the resort enforces directional flow on Landstrasse and our drivers know the permitted access route at any hour.

The British connection: a quiet local custom

The royal patronage of Klosters since the 1980s has shaped a local hospitality culture that suits our clientele very well. Hotel staff are accustomed to discreet chauffeur arrivals, side-entrances are well-used, and the cantonal police treat the lower Prättigau as a sensitive corridor during royal visits — closures are rare but announced in advance via our dispatch network. For British clients flying into Heathrow → Zurich → Klosters (the standard route), we coordinate the ZRH leg at the same fixed-price principle; from GVA the longer trans-Switzerland run is what this page covers.

Equipment and seasons

Swiss law mandates appropriate winter equipment but, unlike France, does not require chains on board for cantonal roads at low altitude. We carry chains on all Klosters runs from November to April regardless — the upper Prättigau can demand them quickly. All our vehicles run four winter tyres (M+S marked, 3PMSF certified) from October. Roof boxes for skis are free on request; the Sprinter holds 16 sets internally if you prefer. Child seats included free. The Klosters route is open year-round; the Vereina car-train tunnel (loading at Selfranga, exiting at Sagliains in the Engadin) is an alternative bookable separately for guests continuing to St. Moritz from Klosters.

How to book

Book online for an instant fixed quote, or call dispatch for groups, dietary or accessibility needs, or special itineraries (some clients use Klosters as a base and ask for daily transfers to Davos events). We confirm by email within 30 minutes; chauffeur details by SMS two hours before pickup. Flight tracking active on all GVA arrivals — 60 minutes of free wait beyond landing. Cancellation free up to 24 hours before; 50% inside 24h; 100% on the day. We accept all major cards, Twint, and corporate IBAN invoicing. For sensitive clients we can arrange the same chauffeur for the whole stay, including in-resort use.

FAQ

Is this a one-day round trip or do you stay overnight in Klosters?

For one-way transfers the chauffeur returns to Geneva the same day (long but feasible). For round trips with same-vehicle on-site use, the chauffeur stays overnight in Klosters at a sensible hotel — quoted at CHF 200/night accommodation supplement on top of the daily chauffeur rate.

Can you arrange a chauffeur for the entire week in Klosters?

Yes. We offer daily packages at CHF 1,200–1,600/day for in-resort use with V-Class or S-Class. Includes the chauffeur and 8 hours of availability.

What about transfers to Davos from Klosters?

Single hops Klosters–Davos run roughly CHF 200 in E-Class, CHF 250 in V-Class. Useful for evening events at the Belvédère or InterContinental.

Can the route be done in one segment with no stops?

Possible but not advised. We programme a 15-minute comfort stop at Würenlos (Zurich) and offer a refreshment break before the final climb if requested. Drinking water and Swiss snacks available in the vehicle.

Do you collect from private aviation at Geneva FBO?

Yes — Signature Flight Support and Jet Aviation are our daily ramps. For Bombardier and Gulfstream arrivals we coordinate with your handler for direct aircraft-side pickup.

Is the train ever better than the car?

For solo travellers with hand luggage only, the Genève → Zürich IC + RhB onward connection is comfortable and only marginally slower. From two passengers up with ski equipment, private transfer wins on comfort and door-to-door time.

Will my driver be the same Swiss chauffeur on outbound and return?

Standard service rotates the fleet. For repeat or VIP guests we can lock the same chauffeur with 48h notice and pay them an overnight in Klosters between legs.
