Road conditions — summer and winter
The A40 motorway is a modern dual-carriageway, rarely congested outside the Christmas week and French February school holidays. In winter, the road is treated daily and our chauffeurs are equipped for all conditions with certified M+S 3PMSF winter tyres and chains on board. In heavy snowfall, transit can extend to 1h45–2h00; we adjust your Geneva departure accordingly to meet your arrival window.
For late-night or pre-dawn arrivals via the private aviation terminal (FBO) at Geneva Airport, we can position the vehicle at Chamonix the evening before where useful. For high-season return transfers to Geneva (end of Christmas holidays, February school-holiday Sundays), we recommend departing 30 minutes earlier than standard calculations.
Alpine chauffeurs and vehicle equipment
All our chauffeurs covering Chamonix transfers hold the Swiss professional transport licence, have a minimum of five years of experience, and complete internal alpine-winter driving training. French fluent, professional English; German, Italian, Spanish and Arabic available on request for international families. Standard dark-suit dress code, NDA available on request for confidential clients.
The fleet is equipped with certified M+S 3PMSF winter tyres from November to March, chains on board during mandatory-chain prefecture declarations (B26), French electronic toll transponder, and first-aid kit. All vehicles less than three years old, detailed between every assignment, equipped with USB chargers and Wi-Fi on request.
Hotels and chalets we regularly serve
Hameau Albert 1er (Maison Carrier), Grand Hôtel des Alpes, Mont-Blanc Hôtel, La Folie Douce Hôtels Chamonix, Les Chalets de Philippe, Armancette Hôtel & Spa (Saint-Gervais). For private chalets, our chauffeurs use GPS provided by the owner or rental agency, with access instructions pre-loaded the evening before the transfer. We also handle the Chamonix ↔ Courmayeur connection via the Mont Blanc tunnel (30 min) with tunnel toll included in the flat rate on request.
Frequently asked questions
How long is Geneva to Chamonix by chauffeur?
Approximately 1h15 in normal conditions, 88 km via Cluses and the A40 autoroute. The route is the same year-round, with the final climb to Chamonix town centre well-maintained. In peak ski weeks, allow 1h30 to account for the descent into the Chamonix valley.
How much is Geneva to Chamonix?
CHF 550 in Mercedes E-Class, CHF 700 in V-Class for families with skis, CHF 850 in S-Class VIP, CHF 950 in Sprinter for groups. All péages d'autoroute français and Swiss border crossing included; nothing more to pay on arrival.
Where exactly do you drop off in Chamonix?
Direct drop at central Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (Hôtel Mont-Blanc, Hameau Albert 1er, Hôtel Heliopic), Argentière (Hôtel Le Hameau Albert 1er Argentière, Le Labrador), Les Houches, or Le Praz. For mountain chalets above the village, please confirm winter access at booking — some upper roads require 4×4 routing.
Can you continue to Courmayeur via Mont Blanc Tunnel?
Yes — Chamonix to Courmayeur via the Mont Blanc Tunnel is 25 minutes once Chamonix is reached. The tunnel toll (currently EUR 50 single one-way for cars, more for vans/Sprinter) is included if quoted as a Geneva–Courmayeur transfer; if added mid-trip, billed at cost. We hold transponder for tunnel quick-pass.
Best vehicle for a family ski week to Chamonix?
Mercedes V-Class for any family booking with hold luggage and ski equipment — it is the only vehicle that fits four pairs of skis on the rack plus four large suitcases plus four cabin bags inside without compromise. For two adults travelling lighter, S-Class. For groups of six or more, Sprinter VIP.
Trusted by discerning travellers.
This was probably the nicest airport transfer experience I ever had. I sent a request to 3 or 4 different companies to compare prices and Swiss Limousine got back to me within 6 hours, with details of the service and exact cost. I had to request some adjustments due to the fact that I was travelling with some equipment and they were able to accommodate. At the airport our driver was extremely professional, nice, and helpful. There was complimentary water and the car itself was really clean and well-ventilated. I would only ever pick this company again when I need an airport transfer in Geneva.
I used Swiss Limousine on 4 occasions on my last trip. Booking was quick and easy. Pricing is competitive and the booking process was simple. Our driver Alex always arrived ahead of time. His service and professionalism were excellent. Alex definitely went the extra mile in anticipating all our needs. Swiss Limousine will be my go-to limo provider for all my future trips.
Outstanding service. Will book again.
