Geneva to Megève by private Mercedes from CHF 480 all-in, door-to-door in about ninety minutes via the A40 motorway and the Sallanches valley. Megève is the quietest of the great French alpine resorts — a real working village rather than a purpose-built station — and the seventy-five kilometres from GVA cover one of the most scenic stretches in the Haute-Savoie. Fixed price, fixed pickup, real-time flight tracking. No surge, no surprise.

Why pre-book a chauffeur rather than rent a car
Megève has no train station and no scheduled airport shuttle worth the name. The TER stops at Sallanches, twelve kilometres below in the valley, with infrequent buses up to the village. Renting a car from GVA seems straightforward until you face the D1212 over the Col des Aravis — a winding road that the gendarmerie of Flumet enforces strictly between 1 November and 31 March under the French Loi Montagne II, which requires four winter tyres plus chains carried on board. Most rental fleets in Geneva do not ship vehicles with chains. Our Mercedes E-Class, V-Class, S-Class and Sprinter fleet runs full winter equipment from October to May, and our chauffeurs know whether to take the Col des Aravis route or the Sallanches valley climb depending on snowfall and traffic. A taxi ordered on arrival at GVA will usually quote you above CHF 650 for the same run, with no flight tracking if the inbound is late.
The route in detail
We leave Geneva via the Pont du Mont-Blanc, cross the French border at Bardonnex, and join the A40 (Autoroute Blanche) heading southeast. The first forty kilometres carry the run through Annemasse and Bonneville to Cluses. At Cluses we leave the motorway via exit 19 and take the D1212 southwest through Saint-Sigismond and the Plateau de Megève — or, in heavy snow, we continue on the A40 to exit 21 Sallanches and climb the valley road via Combloux, which is wider and gentler. The Col des Aravis route is more scenic and ten minutes shorter in dry weather; the Sallanches route is the all-weather default. Total: seventy-five kilometres and roughly 1h30 from Geneva Airport in clear conditions, 1h45 to 2h on a Saturday in February when the Sallanches change-over traffic peaks.

Hotels we know in Megève
Megève is compact and our chauffeurs reach every hotel entrance without restriction — there is no closed pedestrian core for hotel arrivals. Four Seasons Hotel Megève at the foot of Mont d’Arbois, the Rothschild family property reopened in 2017, has valet service and a heated indoor drop-off; we recommend it for arrivals with small children or after a long-haul flight. Les Fermes de Marie (Sibuet) on Chemin de Riante Colline is the iconic chalet hotel — its narrow approach lane is fine for E-Class and S-Class but tight for the Sprinter, which we park at the spa annex. Le Mont-Blanc on Place de l’Eglise, the historic Cocteau-era hotel reborn under Jocelyne Sibuet, sits in the village core. Lodge Park just behind the church suits travellers who want walking access to the rue Charles-Feige boutiques. We also serve Chalet Mont d’Arbois, M de Megève, and Flocons de Sel for gourmet trips.
What to do in Megève
The Megève appeal is not “more lifts than Courchevel” — it is the village. Skiing: the Évasion Mont-Blanc domain links Megève, Combloux, Saint-Gervais and Les Contamines for 445 km of pistes, with the Mont d’Arbois sector ideal for families and Le Jaillet quieter on holidays. Lift passes start at €58/day. Mont d’Arbois golf course: the Rothschild-built nine-then-eighteen-hole course is the highest in France at 1,300 m and runs from late May to October. Horse carriage rides: the village still uses calèches in winter, a Megève tradition since the 1920s; a 30-minute loop starts at Place de l’Eglise. Spa: Five Worlds Spa at Four Seasons, the Pure Altitude spa at Les Fermes de Marie, and Le M spa in the village core. Gastronomy: three Michelin stars at Flocons de Sel (Emmanuel Renaut) plus one star at La Table de l’Alpaga and at 1920 at Four Seasons. Hot air balloon: sunrise flights over Mont Blanc with Alpes Montgolfière, from CHF 320 per person. Summer hiking: the Aiguille Croche traverse and the Croix de Pierre loop are signature routes.
Equipment and seasons
Between 1 November and 31 March all our vehicles serving Megève carry four winter tyres plus snow chains on board, in compliance with Loi Montagne II. Roof boxes for skis and snowboards are mounted on request at no extra charge — please mention the number of pairs and length at booking so we can fit the right rail. Child seats (Group 0, 1, 2 and 3 booster) are free and confirmed at booking. Summer arrivals between June and September are straightforward; the Col des Aravis is open year-round and the route becomes one of our most popular for weddings at Les Fermes de Marie and gourmet trips to Flocons de Sel.

FAQ
How long is the transfer from Geneva to Megève in summer?
About 1h20 outside of Saturday change-over traffic. The Col des Aravis route is fully open from late April to mid-November.
Can you stop at Sallanches for a brief errand?
Yes — a 30-minute stop at the Sallanches supermarkets or the Cluses shopping centre is included free of charge.
Do you serve Saint-Gervais and Combloux at the same rate?
Combloux is identical pricing; Saint-Gervais is a slightly shorter run with a CHF 30 reduction on the E-Class.
Is the route the same for return Megève → GVA?
Yes, at the same fixed rate. The descent via Sallanches is the all-weather default; in good winter weather we prefer the Aravis descent for the views.
Can the chauffeur wait while we have lunch at Flocons de Sel?
Yes. Wait time after the included hour is CHF 60 per hour. Long lunches at three-star restaurants are common on this route.
Do you serve the Megève altiport for private jet arrivals?
Yes. Megève’s altiport at 1,460 m takes light jets and turboprops; we coordinate pickup with the FBO on the apron.
Can we book the same chauffeur for the entire week as a private driver?
Yes — daily chauffeur from CHF 1,100 in Megève, with discounts for multi-day bookings. Ideal for guests staying at Four Seasons or Les Fermes de Marie who want flexibility for restaurants and excursions.
