Méribel sits in the central valley of Les Trois Vallées, and from Geneva it is roughly 200 km — two hours and forty-five minutes of mostly motorway, then a 25-minute climb through the larch forest from Moûtiers. Our fixed all-inclusive rate starts at CHF 900 in an E-Class. For families with full ski kit, the V-Class at CHF 1,100 is the obvious choice; British groups arriving in fours and sixes usually take that one. No metering, no fuel surcharge, no winter premium added at the door.

Why most of our British and Swiss regulars stopped using shuttles

Méribel is the most British of the French Alpine resorts, and the Saturday shuttle market reflects it — packed minibuses, fixed departure slots, three or four hotel drop-offs before yours, an arrival that can stretch to five hours after Geneva pickup if the convoy hits Moûtiers at the wrong moment. The maths is simple: a private V-Class for four shares out at CHF 275 per head, beats the shuttle on time, and removes the need to herd children and ski bags between transfer points. For couples in an E-Class the comfort gap is even wider. There is no direct train to Méribel either — Moûtiers TGV requires a bus connection — and renting a car still puts you on the same icy D915 with less experience than our drivers, who do that climb dozens of times each winter.

The route in detail

We pick up at GVA (or any Geneva address) and head south on the A40, crossing at Bardonnex. The motorway runs to Annemasse, then up through Bonneville, Cluses and Sallanches with the Mont Blanc range filling the left-hand windows. We exit at Le Fayet onto the A430 toward Albertville. From Albertville the N90 climbs gently along the Isère through Aigueblanche to Moûtiers — about 35 minutes when traffic flows, longer on a peak Saturday. At Moûtiers we leave the valley floor and take the D90 toward Brides-les-Bains and Les Allues, then climb 18 km of forested switchbacks to Méribel-Centre (1,450 m). For Méribel-Mottaret the road continues another 6 km to 1,700 m. In normal conditions GVA to the hotel door is two hours forty-five; on a Saturday in February budget closer to three and a half.

Hotels we know in Méribel

Méribel-Centre allows private vehicles to the hotel forecourts; Méribel-Mottaret has restricted streets and we know the permitted drop-off bays. La Sivolière in the Rond Point des Pistes has a dedicated arrivals canopy; we radio ahead so a porter meets the car. Le Coucou Méribel (Maisons Pariente) on the Rocher du Cliquot uses a slipway entrance with a tight turn — our V-Class and E-Class chauffeurs handle it routinely, but the Sprinter parks at the upper bay and bellmen carry. Hôtel Le Kaïla off the Route de la Renarde has valet from arrival. Le Grand Cœur, the historic five-star at the foot of the Chaudanne piste, has its own private parking and a discreet ski-room entrance our drivers use to spare guests the centre’s foot traffic.

What to do in Méribel

Méribel is the geographic heart of the Three Valleys, which means 600 km of linked pistes are reachable from the Chaudanne and Burgin lifts. Skiing: the Tougnete and Saulire bowls connect to Courchevel on one side and Val Thorens on the other — a single lift pass (€73/day in season) covers all three valleys. The ESF Méribel and New Generation ski schools are the two largest English-speaking operations in the Alps. Olympic park: the bobsleigh track of the 1992 Games still runs taxi-bob rides for the public on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Ice climbing: guided cascades at the Roc de Tougne, equipment provided by Maison de la Montagne. Spa: Le Coucou’s Beauty Spa and L’Equipe’s hammam are both bookable as day-pass. Restaurants on the mountain: Le Cèpe at Les Allues for traditional Savoie, La Folie Douce for festival lunches, La Bouitte (a starred address) in Saint-Marcel-de-Belleville on the road we drive past. Summer: golf at the 18-hole Méribel course (one of the highest in Europe), via ferrata above Les Allues, and downhill mountain biking on 50 km of marked trails. Children: the Inuit playground at the Mottaret end runs daily during school holidays.

The Méribel valley: Centre, Village, Mottaret, Les Allues

Méribel is in fact a chain of four interconnected resort villages spread across 700 m of altitude, and the right drop-off depends on your accommodation. Méribel-Centre (1,450 m) is the original 1930s British-built core, with the Chaudanne lift, the Olympic Park and most of the famous hotels. Méribel-Village (1,400 m), a quieter side-pocket between Centre and Les Allues, suits families and ski-school regulars; its 6-seat Golf gondola feeds directly into the main domain. Méribel-Mottaret (1,700 m), the highest village, was built in the 1970s and gives the fastest access to the Saulire and the link to Courchevel — ideal for serious skiers. Les Allues (1,100 m), the original Savoyard village below Méribel, has its own funicular up to Centre and several charming hotels and chalets. Our chauffeurs route to each address precisely; please confirm the exact village at booking.

Corporate, family-office and chalet bookings

Méribel attracts a high share of London and Geneva family offices and corporate ski weeks. We routinely handle five-vehicle convoys departing GVA Friday afternoon with synchronised arrival times at chalets in Belvédère, Rond-Point or Méribel-Village. Most chalet companies (Firefly, Le Ski, Consensio) co-ordinate directly with our dispatch on arrival sequencing. Consolidated corporate invoicing in CHF, EUR or GBP available. For repeat winter clients we can pre-assign the same chauffeur and same vehicle category for every Saturday change-over of the season.

Equipment and seasons

Loi Montagne II applies on the D90 from 1 November to 31 March: winter tyres plus chains carried on board. Our fleet meets the standard from October. Roof boxes are free on request — 2 to 4 pairs we usually fit in the V-Class interior, 5+ pairs go on the roof. Child seats Groups 0, 1, 2 and booster (Group 3) are included at no charge; please indicate child age at booking. The summer season — late June to early September — opens a quieter Méribel for hiking, golf and bike-park use; the road is straightforward, no chains required, and the same fixed rates apply.

Méribel for non-skiers and shoulder-season travel

Méribel is not only a ski destination. From early December through April, non-skiers find a working Savoie village with snowshoe trails on the Tueda nature reserve, ice driving at the Méribel-Mottaret circuit, and the renowned Olympic Centre swimming pool with its glass-walled view of the slopes. The shoulder seasons (late November and mid-April) offer reduced rates at most hotels, fewer crowds, and the same transfer pricing we apply year-round. We have clients who book Méribel in April purely for the spring sun on the terrace of La Folie Douce — and our rates stay identical.

How booking with us works

Pick up the phone or fill the online form — both reach the same dispatcher. We confirm by email within 30 minutes (faster during office hours) with a quoted price you can hold for 24 hours. Payment is taken on the day or invoiced to a corporate account. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. We track all GVA arrivals and absorb up to 60 minutes of delay; longer delays are charged at CHF 1/min, billed honestly. Two hours before pickup you receive a chauffeur sheet by SMS: name, photo on request, mobile, plate. The driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a sign.

FAQ

Can you collect from a chalet in Geneva or the lake-side communes?

Yes — Cologny, Vandoeuvres, Anières, Versoix, Coppet, Nyon: all at the same fixed rate, no zonal surcharge.

Is Méribel-Mottaret reachable by your vehicles in deep snow?

Yes. Mottaret is 6 km above Méribel-Centre on a road kept open by the resort. We carry chains and fit them if the prefecture imposes them.

Do you offer one-way Méribel to Courchevel or Val Thorens?

Yes — short inter-valley transfers are quoted on request, typically CHF 250–350 depending on vehicle and destination.

What luggage do you allow in the E-Class for a ski week?

Three medium suitcases plus three soft ski bags fit comfortably. For three adults with hard ski cases we recommend the V-Class.

Can the V-Class take seven adults and seven sets of skis?

Seven adults plus skis exceeds boot capacity — we suggest splitting into a V-Class plus an E-Class, or upgrading to the Sprinter, which handles 16 passengers and full equipment.

Do you accept payment in pounds or euros?

Online booking takes CHF; corporate invoices can be issued in EUR or GBP on request. Cards are charged in CHF; your bank applies its own FX.

What is the latest you can collect from Méribel for an evening flight?

To reach a GVA flight departing at 19:00, pickup is typically 14:30 from Méribel — earlier on a Saturday. Our dispatcher calculates the time once you share the flight number.
